Superb Breeding For Sale at Bargain Prices
Want another Shelbourne Aston, World Class, Shelbourne Star, Droopys Lee etc etc?
I was down at Shelbourne Stud today and was looking at some superb specimens that are now available for sale. This breeding would not come on the market normally, and it is a sign of the times that these pups are available at prices that would have been reasonable 10 years ago.
It truly is a buyer's market.
Lot 1: COLLISION X SHELBOURNE JULIE. November 2009. 4 pups for sale (dogs and bitches)
Julie is by super sire Head Honcho out of current brood bitch of the year Queen Survivor, making her a half sister of the likes of World Class and Shelbourne Aston. Collision is the no.2 ranked sire in Australia.
Julie qualified to race in 18.02 at Thurles (top grade) but was injured and never raced. Julie is a 70lb absolute perfect specimen of a greyhound. This is Julie's first litter.
Lot 2: WESTMEAD JOE X SHELBOURNE LAURA. November 2009. 3 pups for sale (from 4dogs 4bitches)
Shelbourne Laura is by arguably the greatest racedog of the last couple of decades Brett Lee, put of Queen Survivor (see above). Laura was a top class racebitch winning the Coors Provincial Cup at Nottingham, the Mark Hill 625 at Coventry. Her CV boasts many many Open race wins, multiple Group 1 final appearances including the Grand Prix at the Stow, the Ladrokes Puppy Derby at Monmore, the Monmore Summer Stayers Classic, won heats of the Derby, won several Sky races, did fastest time of the year at Monmore 2006 and is actually the fastest bitch ever to run at Monmore ever.
This cross is proven to throw TOP CLASS. Shelbourne Laura's litter sister Droopys Maddy has thrown Droopys Lee (who only last night did the fastest time since July 05 when winning his semi final of the Gold Collar at Harolds Cross) to Westmead Joe's brother Westmead Hawk. She is also responsible for a very smart pup in Clarkeith Joy, who won an Open in 29.81 on Wednesday night at Hove (a very good run). The cross has also worked brilliantly in Loyal Rebel, another dog from this damline (by Westmead Hawk) who big things are expected from.
This is Laura's first litter. Be quick!
Lot 3. SHELBOURNE ASTON X SHELBOURNE STAR. August 2009. 4 pups for sale (from 5dogs 4bitches)
I think the phrase BRED IN THE PURPLE was invented for this kind of breeding. Shelbourne Aston is the reigning Irish Greyhound Of The Year after winning the 2008 Irish Derby and the 2008 Irish Champion Stakes.
Shelbourne Star was the Irish Marathon Greyhound Of The Year. She was first past the post and runner up in the English St Leger Classic. She was a finalist in many Group finals - the TV Trophy, the Coventry Leger, the Gold Vase at Romford (twice). She broke several track records - Rye House, Swindon, Coventry, Wimbledon and clocked year best times at Romford and Hove. She recorded the fastest 750m time by a pup at Clonmel. How good was this bitch eh?
Shelbourne Star has produced open class winners in all her litters to date...and yes they do stay!
Lot 4. WHERES PEDRO X SHELBOURNE DORA. July 2009. 4 pups for sale (from 3dogs and 5bitches)
Wheres Pedro is a comrade of Hallucinate, Carnage and Crash and has made an explosive start to his stud career in Australia where one of his first pups El Galo has won the Group 1 Adelaide and Brisbane Cups, the Group 2 Warrabool Cup and Bendigo Cup, and many others. His semen is now available in Ireland.
Shelbourne Dora is as near to being completely Irish as is possible being by Boherduff Light out of Queen Survivor. Ths is Dora's first litter.
Lot 5. HEAD BOUND X SHELBOURNE CAPRI. These pups are due this weekend and advanced booking is welcomed on these pups - I don't expect these to be too freely available.
Head Bound is the 2009 Irish Greyhound Review no.2 ranked stud dog and is showing well in all sire charts. Shelbourne Capri is a litter sister of Shelbourne Aston (see above) and was an open winner herself.
ALL THE PUPS ARE ATTRACTIVELY PRICED AT €1000 PER DOG PUP AND €800 PER BITCH PUP.
PICK 'N' MIX DEALS ARE AVAILABLE.

Hi John.
Would be interested to hear your views on uk sales.
Looking to get involved again and am after a few dos and donts regarding the sale auctions.
Im based in the midlands and am familiar with Hall Green and Perry Barr.
Things like age and race experience, and so on.
Regards
Dave

Hi Dave
I am no good really for auctions as I have never bought in one and only sold once (6 years ago).
Personally I think sales should be confined to unraced or raced and never mixed.
As a buyer I like to read form - but if all are unraced that is fine.
