NFL 2009/10: Week 10

A welcome addition this week to our screens will be Thursday night football and that means an earlier start for punters, tipsters and fantasy football enthusiasts - 3 days early in fact. 

Chicago go to the 49ers who are on a 4 game losing streak on Thursday night, and I fancy the Bears to leave with their season still alive, and San Francisco to be in trouble. The Bears are 6/4 with Ladbrokes and Hills while on the spread they get a 3 pt edge. I will back them straight.

RECOMMENDATION: CHICAGO 6/4 Ladbrokes

I like the look of Baltimore on the road at hapless Cleveland and they are judged to be just 10.5pts superior by Vegas.

RECOMMENDATION: BALTIMORE (-10.5pts) General

Philadelphia are a poor side (as I blogged last week) and they are no bet at all on the road to San Diego. San Diego -2.5pts is a must bet.

RECOMMENDATION: SAN DIEGO (-2.5pts) 10/11 General

Arizona are looking like a Superbowl side again, and they must be fancied to tonk Seattle in Phoenix - against the 8.5pts spread looks the bet here. This is a divisional battle and a Cards win will damage Seattle big time.

Premiership 2009/10: Wk 11

OK. West Ham are like a moody woman - their moods are in and out. But I think they are on an 'up' week after a draw with Arsenal, another at Sunderland, and then beating Villa last night. They can round off a good week but beating out of sorts Everton at the Boleyn Ground. You can get 13/8 on Betfair right now.

I would back Spurs but I have a self imposed embargo at present.

Hull and Stoke, Blackburn v Portsmouth and Chelsea v Man United all have draw written all over them.

NFL 2009/10: Week 9

This is a mammoth week.  Dallas go to Philadelphia in a Divisional battle.  Miami also go to divisional rivals when they visit the Pats who return after a bye-week.  Arizona are in the Windy City where a win will do wonders for the postion at the top of a tight group, and my accumulator, which also includes the out of sort Giants (also in the NFC East with Dallas and the Eagles).  Giants MUST win this week and they will although the visiting Chargers won't roll over. Pittsburgh in Denver is another massive game.  Baltimore in Cincinatti too!

And with all these crucial match ups it becomes nearly impossible to find betting propositions.  But with all these close games the spreads will possibly be there to be attacked if you have a strong contrary opinion to the layers.

I'd love to back Arizona with confidence but I fear for them in Chicago especially when the Cards are not protecting Kurt Warner. Would not be surpised if Warner and Fitzgerald have a stormer but will not be tempted.

I think Cincinatti can use homefield advantage to beat the Ravens but the Ravens had a massive result last week. I'd love to take the Bengals with the points but they only reeive 2.5 so in effect if the Ravens win by a field goal the bet is dead.  For that reason I see no reason to bet on the spread, and I am not that confident of backing the Bengals straight.  Will leave alone and take pointers - the Ravens had a blip but were good last week

I fancy Dallas' chances on the road at the Eagles in Sunday's late game. They are 13/10 with a few firms and I just don't like Philadelphia's team this year. OK they are 5-2 and top of the division, but the teams they have beat were the useless Tampa, Kansas and Carolina, plus the inconsistent Redskins and the Giants who have lost the plot of late.  I think Dallas are definitely worth backing and will go for the straight bet.

Miami are a massive price to win at 47/10 in New England and I know the Patriots are shit hot but Miami played well last week and the 10.5 pts spread is enticing and I will play.

RECOMMENDATION: MIAMI TO WIN (-10.5) EVENS EXTRABET

The wheels came off the Denver train last week and the Steelers visit the Broncos this weekend and Pittsburgh have the perceived edge.  I can't work the bookies out though as they only give them a 3pt advantage yet the home team are well priced at 27/20 with Boyles

New direction

Made dreadful losses in the first 8 months, steadied the ship in September, and made another loss of aout 8pts in October.  But if I ignore the first week of October I have been doing OK.

Weakspots have been Saturday 6 which cost me about 20pts in October, and backing matches that involve Spurs which cost me about 5pts. I have an NFL accumulator pending from October and it looks a 50-50 shot to return 16points.

I am well in front on American Football and Premiership betting is now in the black.  I am to get a winning month November and a bumper December would be nice.

Over 2.5 goals

It's too late to be making predictions so this does not count, but Spurs v Arsenal is surely going to produce more than 2 goals. Cant remember many games it didnt.

Kina

I don't know what it is about her, I think she is the best bitch in Ireland, but i keep getting slagged off about her on Facebook etc.

Tonight she has a great make-up in the Newbridge Oaks semi final. I think she could be 7/2. Must be worth a bet. Any trouble she WILL win.
