November Close Off

Not a bad month percentage wise with 10 winners from 30 settled bets. I still have two bets pending - Danmar Pudsy in the Champion Bitch Stake Final next Saturday night will go off about 3/1 and if winning will give me another winning month. Exotic Dancer will not be settled til March, but I will lay at the first opportunity.

William Hill English Oaks 2008

Starting tonight at Wimbledon, the bitches classic begins in earnest. 4 runs over 2 weeks in December will sort the, er ladies from the girls, and the final will be covered on Sky two weeks tonight.

I think one bitch has scope for a big play this year. Droopys Quinta, 12/1 with Paddy Power, sizzled on her debut at Wimbledon, and in between has ran well if not exactly living up to expectations. She ran at Romford in the Puppy Cup and made the final. That was over 400metres. The Oaks is 460.  She will love the extra yardage and the long run up at Wimbledon.

She needs to be backed Each Way at these odds - Seamus Cahill's daughter of Droopys Vieri is sure to keep qualifying.

RECOMMENDATION: DROOPYS QUINTA 12/1 TO WIN OAKS  - PADDY POWER EACH WAY 1/4 odds 1,2,3,4

An outsider that I fancy to do well (and she will need to be on her toes tonight in a tough heat) is Thai Girl.  A bitch that has showed good form around Plough Lane in the past, she is a value bet at 33/1 with Stan James. I also give her a good shout in the heats tonight whereKilelton Rose is sure to attract support giving us a price on Thai Girl.

RECOMMENDATION: THAI GIRL TO WIN OAKS 33/1  - STAN JAMES EACH WAY 1/4 odds 1,2,3,4

RECOMMENDATION: THAI GIRL HEAT 6 TONIGHT (SP)

NFL Week 13 : Titans and Cowboys pulverise their opposition!

I hope you weren't a turkey and heeded my Thanksgiving Day advice: "Switch on Sky tonight and count yer money!"

Two 10/11 winners, nudging my November balance up towards a breakeven point. The Titans blitzed Detroit by 37 points and Dallas wiped the floor with Seattle by 25 points.

Macmillan The Macmillan Cancer Care bank now stands at €68.18 after I had €20 at 10/11 on Tennessee - YEEEHAAAH!!

Coral Essex Vase Final at Romford

Well we are in December already, and I am issuing myself a challenge of staying in the black (or green) on the Sky meetings.  We only have tonight and the Oaks card in a fortnight left to go, and at present Peter Meldrum, myself and my mate Jimbo are the only 'pundits' not losing over the course of the year.

Sky TIPPING TABLE AFTER 32 BROADCASTS IN 2008

1 Peter Meldrum +€16.65; 50/144 (36%)
2 Jimbo +€10.18; 26/63 (42%)

10 Jonathon Kay -€28.79; 70/187 (38%)

I will only be playing on four of tonight's races as it is a card full of possible upsets in my mind.

Danmar Pudsy to win Champion Bitch Stake Final

I tipped this lady last night to win her semi of the Champion Bitch Stake and she did so in style winning in 2895 on a slow track - my other 2 selections Wilcos Sonia and Rising Smoke both bowed out after terrible starts.

Danmar Pudsy - recent winner of the Newbridge Oaks - looks a good bet for next week's final although Hillcroft Josie and Maireads Fantasy will be strong coming home, I fancy Pudsy to make a great start and lead all.

Recommendation: Danmar Pudsy to win the Thurles Champion Bitch Stake

Blog Challenge Postponed

Myself and the Kilhoran man are postponing the blog challenge in the National Puppy Stake, and just as well as I was well off target last night - 8 losers.  My result for the stake so far is 5/18 and a profit of €5.00 to a level €1 stake.

Charity Bet 8 / NFL Week 13: Titans followed by Cowboys in Thanksgiving TV Double Header

Switch on Sky tonight and count yer money!

Recommendation: Tenessee Titans(-11pts) at Detroit Lions 10/11
Bookies have overeacted hugely to the Titans defeat by improving Jets and if you ask me they will beat the winless (yes winless, 11 straight defeats) by 20pts or more.  Watch this game live on Sky Sports this evening starting at 5.30pm GMT

Macmillan  I have had €20 of the remaining €50 Macmillan Cancer Care Charity Bank courtesy of Bruce Betting on the Titans at 10/11 to win by more than 11pts.

Recommendation: Dallas Cowboys (-12.5pts) at home to Seattle Seahawks 10/11
Dallas should have way, way, way too much in hand for Seahawks - expect Dallas' running game to be used a lot tonight. Live on Sky at 9pm GMT and you will get to see the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders (pictured).

YTD American Football: 11 bets; 7 wins; Profit +€6.29

Ante Post and Unsettled Bets

Like the banks, I have a few toxic assets on my books - but unlike the banks some of mine aint as bad as they could be.

My 'football book' is as toxic as you can get I suppose, but I have drawn a line under that now, and although I have a dozen or so possible debts still alive, I might break even for the year if a few of them turn good.

Exotic Dancer to win 2009 Chelt Gold Cup 33/1

Fresh bet and still trading at a best priced 33s

Adebayor to be Arsenal's top PL scorer 11/8

Quite likely still, level on 5 with Van Persie. I'd say he is odds-on now

Bolton to be relegated 100/30

This will go to the end of the season - they are not in the drop zone at present but only 3 points above it - current price about the same as when i made the bet

Boro to finish above Newcastle and Sunderland 3/1

Have been above them all season so far and this bet would be trading at odds on now, but there is only a few points in it all the same

Boro to finish top half - 5/2

As above, Southgate's team have been top half all season, and will be odds-on to stay thereabouts, but any bad run will see them plummet

Drogba to be Chelsea's top scorer 5/4

Unlikely now and looks a sure loser - Anelka is 12 goals ahead of him already and Drogba's injury problems are only now subsiding

Hearts to win SPL (without Rangers and Celtic) 4/1

Have been third behind the big boys all season so far and would be a lot shorter than 4/1 to stay there - not exactly a decent side though. 3pts clear of Dundee Utd and 7 clear of Hibs. Live chance.

Newcastle to finish bottom half 5/4

This is nearly ready to collect - no chance of this crowd finishing abouve 14th

Portsmouth to finish above Man City - 5/4

A point above them at present and 5/4 is possibly a bit short if City spend as they have been promising

Spurs to finish top 6 Evens

I'd love to say they can, but I'll settle for top 16.

Spurs to win Carling Cup 12/1

Amazingly this looks a good bet - they are almost favourites for this now and if they win their Quarter Final with Watford, they have a huge chance of lifting this cup.

Walcott to start more than 15 Premier League matches (Evs)

Was looking nailed on having started most of Arsenal's PL games this year - but dislocated arm means this is in the balance and Evens is probably about right. If he's fit he will be back in this poor side.
