Premiership Accumulator

I know my football has been crap, but I have studied hard this week and gone for the following five teams to win - obviously Spurs will let me down.

I thought long and hard about Arsenal instead of Sunderland, but without Gallas, Walcott and Fabregas, they can't be backed with confidence.

I have actually done a nice bet today- trebles, quads and an accie, but I will leave this bet as an accie alone on here for ease of recording on the blog.

NFL Week 12: NY Jets to win in Tenessee

You might think I am stone mad - the Titans are 10 from 10 - but I think the Jets have a real live chance tomorrow and I really think they are worth a punt at 21/10 with Ladbrokes. The handicap betting is not really value this week, the Jets 10/11 plus 5.5 pts, so I am going with a straight win.

ECLIPSE

The Betfred Eclipse Final is at Nottingham tonight with Wise Thought a hot hot favourite at 2/5.  He has a plum draw and looks nailed on - for that reason I will not be playing!  Wise Thought flattered to decieve at Shelbourne Park in the Derby (are the Irish trained dogs that much better than their UK counterparts?)

A few of the races are not betting propositions - Romeo Del Piero is 1/2, Flying Winner 1/7 and the aforementioned Wise Thought 2/5, however I think there are a few gems amongst tonight's races if you dig deep enough.

On the Sky tipping front, I want to get into credit again so I could be forgiven for taking safe options.  However I really think these dogs have a lot going for them tonight.

Comerford Cakes National Puppy Stake

I am once again taking on John O'Sullivan of Kilhoran Kennels in a tipping challenge in the National Puppy Stake which starts tonight at Shelbourne Park.

BRAGGING ZONE

In the overall series I lead JohnO 6-2, having pitted our wits in 8 challenges to date. Here are our combined records so far - both of us losing overall - it shows how hard it is to make money when you have to select in every race.  Saying that, we have played in well over 200 races and to have such small losses is actually very good - just look at how the Good News Man and the Racing Post Pundits do when they are forced to make selection.

Exotic Dancer to win 2009 Gold Cup

You may remember me tipping Exotic Dancer E/W earlier in the year for the Cheltenham Gold Cup, and he ran well enough despite just missing out.

Well the horse is back on track and doing well, 2nd on his reappearance and ready to take on Kauto Star in the Betfair Chase at Haydock this weekend (7/2).  If he runs well he will be cut big time for the Gold Cup, which is why I am advising a straight win bet now at 33s (Boylesports) with a view to laying off.

Munster

  I don't normally bet on Rugb y as I have no real affinity with it, but yesterday I couldn't refuse to bet on what I saw was a huge rick by the bookmakers who offered the Heineken Cup Champions at 10/11 with a 24 point start to beat New Zealand.

Now granted I didn't really fancy the 9/1 shots to beat the All Blacks, but they were not going to roll over and die at Thomond Park, and seeing as the TriNations winners 'only' beat Ireland by 19 points, I thought that the layers had vastly underestimated Munster. For that reason I played, and flagged this on a forum yesterday - I wasn't sure if I was missing a basic flaw in my reasoning.

At the end of the game Munster were very unlucky not to win the actual game, and went down 18-16 courtesy of a try in the last 5 minutes.  I didn't post it as a selection on here as I just wasn't confident I was doing the right thing.

Sunday Bloody Sunday

OK Hull drew with Man City 2-2 so my bet on them to win at 2/1 went down the pan.

My bet on Leg Spinner was doomed from the start. As soon as I got on at 10s he drifted and stayed drifting to 16/1.  Didn't lift a leg and looked like a horse that will benefit from that run - if you know what I mean.  So the weekend was hardly inspiring at this point, but out of the clouds came Tony Romo who returned to the Dallas Cowboys side to lead them to a hard fought victory at their fiercest of rivals the Washington Redskins. As I flagged they were sure to be cut in price and they were, from 25to 14s.  The value has gone on them now if you were thinking of dabbling.

So at the end of the weekend my I lost (to a €1 level stake) €2.09.

My charity bet was sunk as well (thanks Hull) but that balance is nice and healthy at €105.00 real money for the Macmillan Nurses.
