Fantasy NFL and Premier League

As is always the case in the bleak mid-summer months, thoughts turn to the upcoming football season. I will be engaging in a Fantasy Premier League game somewhere I am sure - usually a few actually - but I will be playing NFL Fantasy as well.

I have looked at setting up a league on the NFL.com site and it is quite complicated to play but looks a lot of fun - with a league draft weekend where each layer gets allocted picks in the draft - for example I get 4th pick, someone else gets 2nd pick etc. This is great fun having done it in Premier League in the past. It is much better when you all have different players.

I have set up a league called the National Greyhound Conference..

If anyone is interested in playing just say so on here - ideally we should have 12 players - not sure if we will get them. We could also play on the Sky Sports NFL Fantasy League which seems a lot easier.

Saturday 6 (18.7.09)

I'm up and down like a whore's knickers at present - last week's 4.25pt loss wiped out the previous week's gains.  I am sorely tempted to have a week off - the racing is SO hard tomorrow - but I will plug on.

The Champion Stakes dominates the Shelbourne card but it's not that straightforward at all. Shelbourne Aston has stitches in his foot but that dont mean Skywalker Queen will have a solo.  Messy race with Advantage Johnny sure to run a big one.

Wise Thought will be short for his heat but I was there the night he won last month and I think the track was +30 fast to be honest.  I would lay him if I could..but I can't. So I will oppose him with one particular dog - Faypoint Man.

Saturday 6 (11/7/09)

I saw a race at Sunderland yesterday and a trap 6 runner in an A2 - an experienced runner around the track - couldnt handle the first bend and ran off over the hare-rail and flew over the boundary wall.  What a terrible circuit.  And for that reason I am opposing Droopys Bogart in the William Hill Classic tomorrow night - he is expected to go off at odds-on and this puppy cannot be backed at those kind of odds.

Down at Wimbledon there is a fine card supporting the Macmillan Nurses Benefit night, and in the main event I think Glenard Sunrise can get first run on Bandicoot Tipoki who runs from red for the first time (i think).  Cabra Boss could be a spanner in the works but I fancy Sunrise to show his Derby form and win for Matt Dartnell and Patsy Byrne.

A tricky card at HQ to say the least.  I will swerve Almost Chilli's race this week - it will be messy going to the bend I think.

The 8.55 sees Sizzling Sarah in action and Pat Guilfoyle's sister of Oaks winner Skywalker Queen only needs to reproduce last week's run to oblige at likely odds of around 2/1.

In the 9.40 I can see a surprise. Glencullen Lad is the only seed in the race and I can see massive crowding inside with Chieftain in particular likely to act as bowling ball to the other 4 'skittles' as he heads for the rail.  Glencullen Lad could be as big as 10/1 and is a massive ew value bet.  So much so that he is my NAP of the night to be at least placed and I will use 2 of my 6 points this Saturday night on Glencullen Lad (so this week is really a Saturday 5 but it hasn't got the same ring to it!)

Black Machine looks to underestimated in his race tomorrow night and at a price of perhaps 7/1 he is another EW proposition. Sure to lead up, with possibilities of trouble inside and outside, he has to be worth a small investment.

Bantiss Dermot and Bantiss Allblack

A couple of Bantiss prefixed runners tonight, and I'd be hoping one of them would be winning. 

Bantiss Dermot and Bantiss Allblack go in Opens at Romford, and while neither of them is a 'gimme' I would have to fancy Dermot in the 225m sprint. This litter are pure sprinters, and this trip allied to a trap 2 draw, is perfect for 'Wally'. He will need to avoid the David Pruhs bitch in red, if not it will open up for Congo Invader in the ping box. Dermot is written off by the Racing Post and given a tissue of 5/1.

Bantiss Allblack needs to start putting more wins on her card. A very fast bitch - the fastest in the litter - she is due one and this looks as good as any. She is in an all bitches affair, and although she faces an Irish Puppy Oaks finalist in Mallarney Lane, the main dangers will be doing there running coming home - Jaytee Holly in particular. This is a race I would be confident Allblack will lead, and if she can stay strong enough to do 24.40 tonight, she should go close. The Post tip her up which is worrying!

Shelbourne Aston: Dundalk International

Priced at 7/2 to win on Sunday night. The pace on the outside is serious, but Aston has a dream draw and if turning in contention, he will mow this field down coming home in my honest opinion.  Accordello is also massive at 10/1 and is a good bet for a forecast with the selection.
